Piikani Nation RCMP officer and wife charged with fraud

A Piikani Nation RCMP officer and his wife have been charged with defrauding Piikani Resource Development Ltd.

Const. Grant Shade, 42, and Katrina Shade, 40, both of Pincher Creek, face charges of fraud over $5,000 and theft over $5,000, according to Alberta RCMP.

The Alberta RCMP Serious Crimes Branch launched an investigation in May 2024 after being alerted to possible fraud committed by a serving officer and his wife against the organization.

Katrina Shade was an employee of Piikani Resource Development Ltd. and Grant Shade is a member of the Piikani Detachment.

Grant Shade faces an additional charge of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.
