Last Tuesday, winds gusting up to 130 kilometres per hour caused havoc as grass fires ignited and spread across southern Alberta.The Coleman fire, which ignited during high winds last Tuesday afternoon, burned about 100 hectares just west of Crowsnest Pass. This aerial shot, taken Friday afternoon, gives an overview of the affected area. No homes were lost but Crowsnest Pass fire chief Jesse Fox says three locations suffered property loss including a large barn, outbuildings and sheds and damage to vinyl siding.

Seven candidates are running for six positions in the council chambers in Crowsnest Pass. The incumbent mayor, Blair Painter, was re-elected by acclamation in September, but a few new faces are seeking to fill some seats.
